In certain hardware configurations of these servers, processor hyperthreads may not be available under Solaris 10 1/06. The Solaris 10
6/06 release corrects this issue.
-
In certain hardware configurations of these servers running the Solaris 10
1/06 release, some devices may not be recognized (such as the Smart
Array controller) or Solaris may appear to hang during boot. A
workaround for such symptoms is to set the ''pci-reprog'' option to a value
of ''off.'' This may be done on the GRUB ''kernel'' line (such as when
booting Solaris from CD-ROM):
kernel ... -B install-media=cdrom,pci-reprog=off
-
This option may need to be set during installation in order to successfully
install the operating system. This option may also be persistently set
using the eeprom (1M) command (once installation is complete).

Kernel patch 118855-19 should be applied when running Solaris 10 1/06
or Solaris 10 6/06 on these servers in order to improve system stability
when the following Intel Xeon processor models are used: 5110, 5120,
5130, 5140, 5150, and 5160.
