""HP's portfolio of world-class Linux-based solutions combined with Medsphere's powerful open source-based electronic health record applications are enabling us to improve patient safety and maximize our returns from the project through improvements in efficiency and consistency. We have great trust in our partners, and are confident that we have the tools and information systems agility necessary to continue exceeding the expectations of our care providers and patients."-- David Whiles, Director of Information Systems, Midland Memorial Hospital
|
Located in Midland, Texas, Midland Memorial Hospital opened its doors to the local community in July of 1950 as the County's only not-for-profit hospital. The facilities were built with funds donated by individuals, firms and foundations to offer medical care to all area residents, regardless of their ability to pay. Today, the 371 licensed-bed hospital operates on three campuses, provides a full range of acute care services for Midland and the surrounding area, and functions as a regional referral center for other communities throughout west Texas and southeast New Mexico.
As part of the ongoing process of planning and review, the Hospital's Information Systems (IS) Group undertakes a regular evaluation of the overall IT infrastructure and an assessment of the IS needs of individual departments. A core objective of the activity is to ensure that IS assets are being leveraged in a manner consistent with perpetuating the Hospital's high healthcare quality standards.
