Las Cruces Public Schools employ HP 1:1 learning        e-computing solution to raise retention, improve instruction

"HP technology is helping to increase the rigor of our academic program, and at the same time, stimulate curiosity and more interest among students in completing their education."

-Patricia Miller, Director of Technology

Las Cruces Public Schools

Technology from HP is helping the public schools in Las Cruces, N.M., to make learning exciting again for students, while improving retention and classroom performance.

"We're working with teachers to transform learning," said Patricia Miller, director of technology for the Las Cruces Public Schools. "HP technology is helping to increase the rigor of our academic program, and at the same time, stimulate curiosity and more interest among students in completing their education."

All told, the district currently fields more than 6000 HP desktop and laptop computers and Pocket PCs, primarily for classroom/student use. HP's commitment to the 1:1 computing e-learning solution is helping the Las Cruces Public Schools to place new technology where it will make the greatest difference, to develop new course content, and to make learning resources available to teachers and students alike.

Why HP?

All products come with a three-year warranty, and the district depends solely on HP service. "It's easy to work with HP," she said. "They make good on their warranty promises, quotes come back quickly, and service has been very responsive. So in addition to being a cost- effective solution, they work well with us." Teachers take advantage of HP's K-12 Help Desk, set up specifically to support public school programs.

Finally, Las Cruces Public Schools share HP's commitment to 1:1 computing e-learning. One clear indication is the LCPS Data Management Department. It provides ongoing training for teachers and administrators, helping them to focus on making instructional decisions that are aligned with the district focus on the most critical questions in student learning.
